In today's comparison video, Maury is playing a production model Martin OMJM vs a Custom Shop OM with an Engelmann top & Fishman pickup. This custom shop Martin is a modern reproduction of the Martin OM-28JM - the original John Mayer signature OM that started it all. The Martin OMJM has a simple dovetail neck joint vs the Custom's traditional dovetail construction. Both guitars have solid East Indian rosewood back & sides and both have a top made of solid Engelmann spruce. These guitars both share the same neck, same bracing and same string spacing. We commissioned the Martin custom shop to build this Engelmann OM to reproduce the Martin OM-28JM as faithfully as possible. The only real details missing is the custom trim around the headstock & bridge, and of course, John Mayer's signature.
