Some would say I love plants a little too much. That my plant hobby is borderline obsessive. But that’s just love, am I right? Or is it? In today’s video, I’m sharing 5 signs that you are addicted to plants, plant care, and plant collecting. Plant Addiction Sign #1: You can’t stop buying plants Usually choosing to purchase a few plants isn’t bad. It only becomes an issue if you create a pattern where you are unable to control your impulses, emotions, and behaviors and it negatively impacts your life. In this case if I’m repeatedly purchasing plants, going plant shopping, and am tens of thousands of dollars in debt, that should already be a red flag - that I have a problem. Plant Addiction Sign #2: Excessively checking social media Like I said earlier, I love to hyper fixate on plants and that’s not just my ADHD talking. I’ll often find myself scrolling through Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and even Facebook. For hours. Every day. About what? Plants. Plant Addiction Sign #3: Hiding plants from your partner I don’t know about you, but Ethan (my partner) doesn’t love plants the same way I do. Clearly there’s something wrong there… Anyway, there was a period of time when I’d come home with plants a few times a month. Ethan would give me side eye since we have “no space”. So what do I do? I don’t even do show and tell anymore. I become secretive and hide my plants. Plant Addiction Sign #4: Having no other interests Having multiple hobbies or interests is a good thing, because it helps you maintain balance. If you only have one, there’s always a possibility of letting it take over your life and neglecting other areas in your life such as work or your personal relationships. Not to mention, there’s fun in being able to grow and experience new things. Plant Addiction Sign #5: Using your plant hobby as an escape from reality If you find yourself living in this alternate state than in your existing reality, that’s a red flag. If you find yourself addicted to certain habits, that’s also a red flag. Usually, we want to escape when we want to avoid complex thoughts, negative emotions or our problems. It’s our form of coping. However, it’s not meant to be a solution for all of life’s problems. - - Join the fam and follow me! / carmielmarcelline / carmielmarcelline For serious business inquiries, email me at [email protected]
