Explore the dynamics of recurrent UTI through the lens of patient and healthcare providers. 2. Highlight recent changes to national guidance for recurrent UTI management. 3. Discuss the process for reviewing patients on long-term antibiotics for the prevention and treatment of recurrent UTI using the TARGET ‘how to’ guide. Who is it for? Medical practitioners in the primary care setting including but not limited to: 1. General practitioners 2. Nurse prescribers 3. Practice and community pharmacists Background information Recurrent urinary tract infection (UTI) is one of the most common indications for long-term and/or repeat antibiotic use1. Understanding patients’ needs and discussing the challenges of recurrent UTI management is key to effective shared decision-making, whilst reviewing long-term antibiotics for recurrent UTI should be done regularly2. Management guidance for recurrent UTI is published by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and is frequently updated based on new evidence or changes in best practice. This webinar we will discuss updates to the NICE guidance and demonstrate the TARGET ‘How to’ guide for recurrent UTI which supports the review and management of patients who are on long-term/repeat antibiotics. This includes self-help preventative measures as well as alternatives to antibiotics that can be explored with patients. References 1.
