When the Epson EcoTank's Ink Pad replacement message pops up, as far as I know, Epson suggests you either replace the whole printer, or send it in for repairs, which likely costs about as much as a new printer, which is stupid. I previously made a video how to do this using the WIC method, but it was $10, and off a questionable website (that video is here: • Epson EcoTank Printer Waste Ink Pad Replac... ). This method is FREE, it's a utility uploaded to GitHub by a coder named Ircama, but it's somewhat involved in getting to work properly. Therefore, I made a video out of the instructions I wrote on my previous video. The instructions are below toward the bottom as well, for your convenience. May not be compatible with certain Ecotank models. See pinned comment for details or read on. ********************************************************************************************** ADDITIONAL TROUBLESHOOTING STEPS (UPDATED 09/19/2025): First - if you're on OS/Apple, a viewer has commented the following (I'm paraphrasing): for 10.11.6, in the Security & Privacy in "Allow apps downloaded from:", choose "Anywhere" since by default Apple won't allow you to run/install this. Second - if you have an ET-2800 series model (and some others), I have good news and bad news. The bad news is that this program doesn't work - you can see a list of "known incompatible models" here, about halfway down: https://github.com/Ircama/epson_print... The good news is mostly a bunch of alternate solutions I will propose. One, if this didn't work, you may want to try reverting the firmware to an older version. I don't know how to do this, but there is info on Google and Reddit. Two, you can try my older video, using the WIC key method. It's not free ($10), but I have yet to hear it not working for people: • Epson EcoTank Printer Waste Ink Pad Replac... Third - someone has commented that the first time they tried the epson_print_conf software with an ET-4760 printer, it didn't work. But then they: pressed Printer Status, Printer Web Interface, then Detect Access Keys, after which they were able to Reset Waste Ink Levels. Finally, (and I would love for someone to be a brave soul to try this and COMMENT about their experience, or write to [email protected]), I noticed there's an ink pad set on Amazon that comes WITH a reset software. It claims to be compatible with 2800 series printers, and others. And because that's what they claim, you can probably try it, and return it if it doesn't work (or ask for customer support so maybe they can fix it). Here's my affiliate link to it, and I would appreciate someone to follow up with their experience: https://amzn.to/470wH9E ********************************************************************************************** InkPad for ET-2800 ET-4800 ET-2720 ET-2803 ET-2400 ET-4700, ET2800 ET4800 ET2720 ET2803 ET2400 ET4700, 2800 4800 2720 2803 2400 4700 (also comes with software, apparently, I don't know anything about that) https://amzn.to/470wH9E Ecotank ink set: https://amzn.to/3TUj1p9 Donations Welcome! https://buymeacoffee.com/bootman 1) Install GIT https://gitforwindows.org/ (just use all default values) 2) Install the latest Python: https://www.python.org/downloads/ 3) Head here: https://github.com/Ircama/epson_print... download 'requirements.txt', place it in a folder of your choice. The download button is an arrow pointing down, it's on the right hand side of the screen, to the right of the 'raw' button 4) On Windows, run Command Prompt as an administrator 5) Navigate to the folder where you downloaded requirements.txt (for example, if you downloaded it into C:/Epson, you'd type 'C:', then 'cd Epson') 6) Type, then run WITHOUT quotes (YouTube keeps turning this into a link, so just type out the whole URL & delete the space between h and t) "git clone h ttps://github.com/Ircama/epson_print_conf" 7) Type and run 'cd epson_print_conf' 8) Type and run 'py -m pip install -r requirements.txt' (and feel like Hackerman if you're not used to coding, installing dependencies, libraries, etc) 9) Download the epson_print_conf.zip file, and place the .EXE file into the \epson_print_conf folder you created earlier: https://github.com/Ircama/epson_print... 10) Run the epson_print_conf.exe file, Windows will probably not let you, just press 'more options' or whatever comes up, and press 'run anyway' 11) From here, you should be able to detect your printer, and reset the ink counter by selecting your printer model, letting the software detect it, then resetting the ink levels.
