Threaded glass connectors are a grease free method of connection. In this video Sam, Product Manager at Radleys discusses the difference between threaded glass joints and standard ground glass joints. Rodaviss joints, a type of threaded glass joint, are used on most of Radleys glassware and are based on a standard ground glass joint, but include a screw thread on the socket and a screw cap on the cone, supported on a glass ridge. What are the benefits of Rodaviss joints? As well as being able to secure the cone and socket together, to separate them you simply unscrew the cap back onto the loosening ring, which pushes the joints apart for safe disassembly. This means no more worrying about stuck or “frozen” joints, because instead of having to pull the glass joint apart by hand, which comes with the risk of breaking the glassware if it’s twisted or pulled unevenly, we’re pushing it steadily and evenly on all sides.
