Jasper forms from fine fine silt partials of weathered quartz that have stacked up over time like small sand dunes, it gets bombarded with silica rich hot fluid. the fluid will silitify with the silt VERY rapidly. thurs preserving the layers we can sometimes see in the jasper when its been cut. Like that of picture jasper. Chalcedony is made from a pooling or (confinement in a volcanic vug) of hot silica rich fluid WITH NO fine partials involved. just elements. it is also cooled rapidly that's why it has no crystal growth there was not enough time. This is done in ONE event. The color of this bullseye is because the iron is heavy and separates out and is drawn to "like elements" and so creating rings. since each element has a different weight they will move through the fluid differently as it cools. If you get crystals on jasper or chalcedony its because a seconded mineral event occurred and had time to cool and grow crystals AFTER the first event solidified. Hope this helps Thank you all so much for watching!
