Subscribe for weekly workouts combining the best of Pilates and weight training. -------- ABOUT STAIR Alistair “Stair” McKane is a reformed lawyer who ditched his “biglaw” career for the gym. In 2023, he became a NASM Certified Personal Trainer then, completed a 500-hour course to become a comprehensively trained Pilates instructor. He has taught a variety of group fitness classes from his hometown in Kentucky to his current home in beautiful Los Angeles. Apart from a summer long romance with Leslee Bender’s Bender Ball and a Total Gym XL in high school, exercise didn’t become a habit until his mid-20s when he started law school and a mentor advised him to “find something fun, unrelated to law school, and protect it.” Understanding the rigors of practicing law, each semester Stair committed to a new form of physical activity…for fun and his overall well-being. The “ah-ha” moment came when he began scheduling work calls around his workouts. But, Stair hasn’t looked back since deciding he’d have better luck at a successful career if he focused more on fulfillment than money (his sole motivator for being a lawyer). Stair’s style is intentional, dynamic, and challenging. He creates smart programming that blends Pilates, traditional resistance training, and other modalities such as boxing, inversion training, and Olympic weightlifting. Stair is working toward opening his own health club with an added twist (stay tuned!), but in his free time, can be found singing and roller blading along the Santa Monica Pier, mixing music in preparation for his next career as a DJ, or editing his first book, “Outpost Zero”.
