#3 MSICS in a degenerated cornea : demonstration of diamond burr

Performing any manuevure inside eye with hazy cornea is always challenging. Patients doing farming activities usually present with ocular surface degeneration because of excessive UV light exposure. It is common to get spheroidal degeneration of cornea with senile cataract. One such patient presented to my OPD having central dense spheroidal degeneration/climatic droplets keratopathy. These droplets were shaved off the cornea using Alger brush aka diamond burr . Superficial keratectomy using Diamond burr is simple, safe and promising manuevure which provides relatively clear cornea post operatively. Once CDK is dealt efficiently, the rest of the surgery becomes a routine one.
