So yeah, every now and then I get a pedal that is a bit outside my comfort zone, but I like how it sounds and makes me play/write differently—this is one of those. The octave fuzz sounds in the Poly Blue Octave are a no-brainer for me (especially those unhinged analog-style tones on the Mono mode), but tbh I can’t think of a time when I really went all-in on a clean octave sound. BUT—the challenge was purely my sensibilities and nothing about this pedal. It’s great at what it does, which four (!) octave voices that can be blended independently, some awesome Leslie-style and phaser that can be used on their own as well, and one gnarly fuzz circuit post-octave that recalls the OG Blue Box. So if you’re after a bit of ethereal color, organ-like timbres, or just rowdy, synthy fuzz, it’s all here in a very surprisingly versatile little box.
