Welcome to our Live Lecture Series on AI/ML and Omics Data from the Stanford Data Ocean teaching team, designed to supplement your learning journey. In this third lecture, Stanford Senior Data Scientist Antony Ross guided us through an engaging and accessible introduction to the fascinating world of genomics and bioinformatics. Designed for both complete beginners and those with a basic understanding of molecular biology, this talk will provide a general overview of genomics and genomic data. We'll delve into genomic sequences, explore genomic variations, and discuss the preparation of genomic data. Following this, we will walk through a few fundamental examples of genomic data analysis and highlight some of its key applications. Antony Ross is the Senior Data Scientist for the Stanford Data Ocean at Stanford University School of Medicine. He has conducted research in muscle physiology and genomics related to improving athletic performance. His current work is focused on machine learning and AI, and projects related to biomedical data science and bioinformatics. We created this lecture series as supplemental materials for those of you who are progressing through our certificate programs or are considering enrolling.
