How to use entrepreneurial principles, skills and attitudes to search for and discover meaning and happiness in your career, relationships and life. ECLD Module 7 covers Entrepreneurial Principle #5 - Affordable Loss. "Don't Put All Your Eggs in One Basket" is just one aspect of this principle that suggests to have a portfolio of opportunities, jobs, experiences, and relationships. The other aspect of this principle tells us to create prototypes and MVPs and learn as much as possible as quickly as possible with as little risk as possible. Don't just jump into the first job or marry the first person you meet. Don't just raise a bunch of money and build a product - go directly to customers with a prototype in hand. The Affordable Loss principle is rooted in Sarasvathy's landmark works on Effectuation. Dr. Steve Gedeon is Chair of the Ryerson Entrepreneur Institute at one of the largest entrepreneurship programs in the world. Steve teaches ECLD in ENT 78AB Advanced Entrepreneurship and ENT 401 Design Thinking at the Ted Rogers School of Management in Toronto.
