On Thursday the 20th, Bun Dawda appeared on AG Radio, outlining the government's failure under President Adama to bring Yahya Jammeh to justice. Bun Dawda stated that Gambians, particularly the victims of Yahya Jammeh, are deeply disappointed by what he characterizes as a lack of political will to bring Yahya Jammeh to justice. Prosecuting Jammeh is an issue of implementation, not negotiation, as recommended by the TRRC. Bun Dawda argued that the opposition political parties in the country have not been applying sufficient pressure on the government to pursue Jammeh, which is quite disappointing. "Those who supported Jammeh during the second republic are reluctant for his return or prosecution, as they understand that such events would lead to their exposure and the loss of their jobs. They are solely focused on safeguarding their jobs rather than considering the needs of the people," Bun Dawda lamented. "President Adama Barrow has shown no inclination towards establishing a court to prosecute Jammeh, as he aims to retain the support of APRC voters. For Adama Barrow, maintaining his rule over Gambia takes precedence over seeking justice for Jammeh. If Barrow was genuinely interested in doing the right thing, then why was Jammeh not sentenced in absentia from the outset, especially before he began making threats about his return?"
