At least 18 MPs stood up in Parliament to debate the planned GST hike. Many expressed support to delay the GST hike while keeping the issue of the rising cost of living in focus. However, the Workers' Party said it disagrees with the decision to raise the GST, and will object to Singapore's Budget 2022. The party said it believes the government does not need to raise GST -- especially at this time -- and that there are other options for raising revenue.
