WHITE FLASH 11. (SOUNDBITE) (English) CHILEAN SKYDIVER, SEBASTIAN ALVAREZ, SAYING: “After I exit, the main thing is to exit stable. At that speed, it's very difficult, but I managed to do it, and finally, it's just glide. First, it's going as fast as possible, then glide for the most distance possible, and finally, around 12,000 feet, I change a bit the angle in order to create the longest time possible.” STORY: Chilean wingsuit pilot Sebastian 'Ardilla' Alvarez has set an unprecedented benchmark in aerial sports, breaking three world records by a significant margin with his Red Bull Starman mission - a high-stakes wingsuit dive that pushed the limits of human flight. Alvarez jumped from an aircraft at an altitude of 41,470 feet - higher than the cruising altitude of most commercial planes - harnessing the boost of a jet stream and making strategic body adjustments to maintain control while maximising speed, distance, and time. He remained airborne for 11 minutes and 1 second, with the jump taking place over the West Tennessee Skydiving centre on March 22, showcasing his mastery of the skies. The three world records that Alvarez shattered were: Speed: 550 km/h (previous record was 397 km/h) Distance: 53.45 kilometres (previous record was 29.06 kilometres) Time: 11 minutes 1 second (previous record was 9 min 31 seconds). The Chilean wingsuit pilot views his record-breaking jump as proof that discipline and determination can turn the impossible into reality - hoping to inspire others to chase their own limits.
