Wes Sims is a former American football offensive lineman best known for his standout college career with the University of Oklahoma Sooners. Sims joined the Sooners in 2000, redshirting his freshman year as part of the BCS national championship team. He quickly emerged as a starter, earning freshman All-American recognition while playing both tackle positions before settling in at left tackle for his final three seasons (2002–2004). Over his college career (2000–2004), he accumulated 28 starts (including 22 at left tackle) and helped anchor offensive lines that contributed to Big 12 Conference titles in 2002 and 2004.Standing 6'5" and around 310–317 pounds, Sims was known for his size, strength (holding Oklahoma's position record for bench press at one point), and run-blocking ability. He was selected by the San Diego Chargers in the sixth round (177th overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft. He spent time with the Chargers in 2005 (though waived later that year), was with the Carolina Panthers in 2006, and had a brief stint with the New Orleans Saints in 2007, but did not record significant NFL playing stats.
