It was really breathtaking – even though you never want to experience this in life, we had to experience it. Bernhard Lackner was greeted enthusiastically by his daughter and grandchildren upon his return. "We heard detonations and then we saw parts, whatever these were, falling out of the sky," Lackner told The Associated Press of his time in Dubai. “Extremely high professionality by everybody, everybody was extremely friendly – and there was no panic anywhere. I really have to stress that,” he added. Others experienced their time in Dubai differently. "We are not used to war. We just wanted to go home. It was terrible, we spent two nights in the basement of the hotel. We are just happy to be here,” Margit Schulz, who was vacationing with her husband in the United Arab Emirates, told reporters . According to the Austria's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, there were 1,270 Austrian tourists remaining in the United Arab Emirates as of Thursday, 100 less than the day before. The ministry says it is continuing to assist with evacuation flights. Two further flights from Muscat and Riyadh are expected on Thursday, bringing a further 480 Austrians back home.
