Hanging Rock Trail: Hiking Hanging Rock State Park in Stokes County, North Carolina

Hanging Rock State Park is located in the Sauratown Mountains, near the town of Danbury in Stokes County, North Carolina. This spectacular park is one of my personal favorites. In this video we arrive early on a beautiful weekend morning, trying to get ahead of the inevitable crowds to hike the Hanging Rock Trail. This is easily one of the most popular trails in the park. It is 1.3 miles one way from the visitor center. This is a moderate trail...experienced hikers will find it rather easy; however, many park visitors are often unprepared for the couple of steep climbs, rocky conditions, and a lot of steps. For those that make it to the top, there is an amazing reward in the form of spectacular 270 degree view. You can oversee nearly the entire state park from here, as well as great views of downtown Greensboro and Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and to the north you can see all the way to the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, including easily observing Bull Mountain near Stuart and Buffalo Mountain near Floyd.
