The inner circle and a cadre of other circumstances conspired today to remind me of a song I wrote in 2017 after a hate-inspired tragedy in Charlottesville VA, recorded, maybe posted audio once, and out back in the vault. It’s 9 years later and events like this one happen every day still. Breaking hearts, causing bewilderment, and reaction to the action. And so here I am, playing and writing songs again. And 13 weeks into actually playing those songs in cafe’s…to/for people who in many cases actually came to listen…and to Hear, and Think about … and Feel something And now my hands can play it again, and my voice can sing it and my brain remembers the words…and the WHY it even exists. And next week, audiences in all four Open Mic locations are going to hear it.
