Navratri Recipe | Bhagar upma | Varai Upma | Upvas Recipe | sama ke chawal | vrat recipe Ingredients: • 1 cup Bhagar (Barnyard Millet) • 2 tablespoons Ghee or Oil • 1 teaspoon Mustard Seeds • 1 teaspoon Urad Dal • 1 teaspoon Chana Dal • 2 Green Chillies, slit • 8-10 Curry Leaves • ½ cup Diced Potatoes • ½ cup cup Green Peas • 2-3 tablespoon Peanut Powder • Sendha Namak (Rock Salt) to taste (or regular salt) • 2 cups Water • Fresh Coriander Leaves, chopped • Lemon juice (optional) Process: 1. Roast the Bhagar: • Heat 1 tablespoon of ghee or oil in a pan • Add the bhagar and roast on low-medium heat until it turns light golden and fluffy. Stir continuously to prevent burning. • Remove from the pan and set aside. 2. Prepare the Tadka: • In the same pan, heat the remaining ghee or oil. • Add mustard seeds, urad dal, and chana dal. Let them splutter. • Add green chilies and curry leaves. Sauté until the chana dal turns golden brown. 3. Cook the Vegetables: • Add the diced potatoes and green peas. Mix well. • Add rock salt (or regular salt) to taste. Mix again. • Add 2 cups of water. Cover the pan and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender. 4. Combine with Bhagar: • Add the roasted bhagar to the cooked vegetables. Mix well. • Cover the pan and cook on low-medium heat for 10-12 minutes, or until the bhagar is cooked and the water is absorbed. • Fluff with a fork. 5. Garnish and Serve: • Add chopped coriander leaves and peanut powder, mix well. • Squeeze lemon juice (if using). • Serve hot. Optional Notes: • Adjust the amount of salt and spices to your taste. • You can add other vegetables like carrots or beans. • For a richer flavor, use pure ghee. • Peanut powder can be added with the bagar for added flavour. #geetafoodvolgs
