In late October 2021 a deal was been struck that could resurrect Bury Football Club, according to its administrator. Steven Wiseglass says the agreement for the sale of the club's Gigg Lane ground could help save the club and allow football to continue at the 12,000-capacity stadium. Heads of terms have been signed and the new owners – a fan group called Est 1885 – are set to officially get the keys to the stadium as early as December.
