Joel Westbrook's headed to the Karate World Championships!

Joel Westbrook is the first male wheelchair user to earn a spot on the USA Karate Para Team. He will represent the USA at the Karate World Championship in Cairo, Egypt on November 29, 2025 and at the PanAmerican Championship in Peru in May 2026. Joel is raising money for travel and extra training expenses. He wants to be ready and represent the USA to the best of his ability. In addition to karate, Joel has been involved in the community as a Miracle Kid for Children’s Hopsital at Erlanger since 2014. He has volunteered at Erlanger Hospital and with the adaptive programs sponsored by YMCA Downtown Chattanooga. In 2025 he was the Miracle League of Chattanooga volunteer of the year and also recieved the Blaze Sports Athlete of the Year award. He graduates with his associates degree in Social Work from Georgia Northwestern Technical College in December and plans to continue his education to become a child life specialist.
