The official 2025 remaster of " Lady Indigo" the explosive 1973 anthem by Australian hard rock legends Tailwinds __________ Spotify - TBC __________ About the Track: After his high-profile departure from The Wrinkles, David McDuffy needed to prove he was a force on his own. He formed his new band, Tailwinds, and retreated to the Mediterranean for a six-month creative exile, living in a villa on the Greek island of Mykonos. "Lady Indigo" was the first fruit of those sessions. A whimsical, piano-led journey, the song showcases McDuffy's knack for melody and storytelling. While the lyrics seemingly describe a surreal tea time with a neighbor, rumors immediately swirled that "Lady Indigo" and the line about "the sugar cube dissolving" were references to the band's psychedelic experimentation during their Greek isolation. McDuffy never confirmed the rumors, simply calling it "a song about sailing." Regardless of the meaning, the track became a massive global hit, silencing critics who said he couldn't write hits without his former bandmates. __________ Release Details: Original Release Date: November 14, 1973 Recorded: September 1973 at The Mobile Studio, Mykonos, Greece Label: ARR Records (Archival Reissue) Format: Stereo Genre: Soft Rock / Pop Rock / Yacht Rock __________ Lyrics: Mr. Hedges trims the lawn at number four Checking on his watch and looking at the door He hasn't got a clue Of what we're going to do Me and you... me and you... Sipping tea and waiting for the sugar cube to dissolve Got a riddle that the Vicar simply cannot solve Why the sky is turning green? And what the funny patterns mean? Lady Indigo... Hello, Lady Indigo... Well, the kettle started whistling a different tune! (A different tune!) And the cat jumped over the harvest moon! We gotta leave the house, we gotta leave it now Don't care about the why or how! If she comes to take us for a ride! (Take us for a ride!) We're gonna leave the furniture inside! Well, the garden gate swung open and we stepped onto the breeze And I saw a thousand faces in the leaves of all the trees And the clouds were made of cotton in a blue and velvet vest And we were sailing on a notion to the East and to the West! Riding with the Lady, riding with the Lady... And the postman and the people in the street Were looking at their feet (Looking at their feet!) But Lady Indigo and me Were sailing on the sea Riding with the Lady Riding with the Lady (Ooh, she takes me higher) Riding with the Lady (Past the church and spire) Well, I asked her for a ticket but she said the ride was free If I only kept my eyes wide open for the things I'd see Then the grass began to ripple like a river in the tide And there was nowhere left to run and there was nowhere left to hide! Riding with the Lady Riding with the Lady And the postman and the people in the street Were looking at their feet (Looking at their feet!) But Lady Indigo and me Were sailing on the sea Riding with the Lady Riding with the Lady Lady Indigo, yeah! Don't you want to go? Well, the sun was going down but we were never coming back We were rolling like a marble on a silver railway track Say hello! (Hello!) To the Lady! (Indigo!) Yeah, she's taking me there! (Taking me there!) I said she's taking me there! (Taking me there!) Woo! __________ Credits: Produced by: David McDuffy Performed by: Tailwinds © 1973 Tailwinds / 2025 Alternative Reality Radio
