Duane Renz from Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, inspired by the movie, purchased this '68 Mustang nearly 50 years ago and has retained it ever since. Over the years, this iconic car has undergone some notable transformations. Initially powered by a 302ci engine, it now boasts a 398ci Stroked Small Block Windsor, equipped with Brodix aluminum heads, a 950 Demon carburetor atop an Edelbrock Victor Jr. intake. The power is delivered through a 3-speed automatic C4 transmission to a Ford 9" rear end, featuring a leaf spring suspension that challenges the Mickey Thompson slicks mounted on classic Centerline wheels. What sets this car apart is its nostalgic build, transported to the track on an open trailer, in stark contrast to the high-tech, high-budget setups commonly seen today. On this particular day, Duane was testing the Mustang, which he typically races in the Pro Eliminator class (9.00 to 13.99) at Byron Dragway's Bracket Series events.
