Exclusive: Sky’s Adele Robinson examines the charity ‘Circles’ which uses volunteers to help rehabilitate convicted sex offenders. The number of people on the sex offenders' register in the UK is rising year on year, Sky News has learned. The statistics, released through freedom of information requests, are from 17 police forces across England and Scotland. They show a rise of more than 10 percent in the last three years from 30,817 at the end of 2016 to 34,003 at the end of 2018. The National Probation Service told Sky News: "We're investing more money to keep the public safe by increasing the number of probation officers and places in supervised accommodation for sex offenders. "In addition to any support provided by organisations such as Circles, sex offenders are also subject to strict conditions, which may include exclusion zones and treatment programmes, and they may be recalled to prison if they fail to comply with them. They are also placed on the sex offenders' register."
