On June 11th, 2021, University College Dublin (UCD) and IBM Research in Ireland convened their third annual research colloquium. This year’s event explored perspectives on the emerging clinical, commercialisation and research opportunities in digital surgery for Ireland. Held virtually in front of a registered attendance of approximately 150 participants from all relevant sectors, the half-day webinar presented a range of Irish and International experts from across the spectrum of Academia, Industry, Healthcare, and Government, with an opportunity to explore what it will take to position Ireland at the forefront of this exciting field as well as outlining the roadmap of how to get there. Here in this fifth video, the lead partners of the DTIF consortium "The Future of Colorectal Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment: Combining Tissue Responsive Fluorescent Probes, AI and Machine Learning to Transform Medical Care" reflect and detail their work and its evolution. The panel comprises Prof Ronan Cahill, UCD and Mater Hospital, Surgeon; Prof Donal O'Shea, RCSI Chemistry; Dr Pol MacAonghusa, IBM Research in Ireland and Dr Mairin Rafferty, Deciphex.
