Cotehele Riverscapes Workshop Calstock CP School participated in a workshop at Cotehele Quay, focusing on the River Tamar. Children aged 9–11 interviewed each other about meaningful objects related to the river from their homes, uncovering a theme of geology and river exploration. They creatively formed the words "River Tamar" and "Tamara" with their bodies and a drone. Accompanied by artist and designer Dominica Williamson, artist Andy Hughes and drone photographer Harry Sutherland, as well as University of Plymouth researchers, and their teacher, the children walked together, exploring the natural and cultural heritage along a path to Calstock. They were encouraged to consider the sounds they made while engaging with the landscape. Using mud, grass, and poetic sensory words, the children constructed mini riverscapes to express their emotions about the river. These creations were photographed, and the idea of mini drones flying over them was imagined. Both adults and children learned how to tie a clove hitch knot to construct seven mini rafts with sails. These rafts were then raced while sending wishes to the river. #tamarariverscapestories is part of the Tamara Landscape Partnership funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
