"What if ethical hackers try to hack your company before real hackers do? That’s called Penetration Testing." Penetration testing, or pentest, is an authorized cyber attack performed by security professionals to find vulnerabilities in systems, networks, or applications before attackers exploit them. 🌐 External Pentest "Can hackers break into your company from the internet?" This tests public-facing systems like websites, servers, and APIs. 🏢 Internal Pentest "What if the attacker is already inside your network?" It simulates insider threats or attackers who gained internal access. ⚪ White Box Testing "The tester knows everything." Full system information like source code, architecture, and credentials are provided. ⚫ Black Box Testing "Just like a real hacker — zero knowledge." The tester starts with no information about the system. ⚙ Grey Box Testing "The attacker knows a little." The tester gets limited information like user credentials. 📢 Announced Pentesting "Everyone knows the test is happening." The organization and security team are informed before the testing starts. 🚨 Unannounced Pentesting "The attack happens without warning." The security team is not informed to test real detection and response capability. 🎯 Blind Testing The tester has minimal information, but the organization knows a test will occur. ⚠ Double Blind Testing Neither the tester has full information nor the security team knows when the test will happen.
