Sahuaro Ranch Park: Rose Garden

Glendale Councilmember Bart Turner of the Barrel District takes viewers on a trip back in time to one of the city’s most historic parks in his new edition of the TV show “Glendale Today”. Councilmember Turner and Joanna Brace from Parks and Recreation talk about what life was like more than 100 years ago at Sahuaro Ranch Park and how the working ranch has been transformed into a venue offering a wide variety of recreational experiences for everyone to enjoy. Councilmember Turner tours some of the historic buildings at the park, including the Adobe House, the Main House, the Foreman’s House, the Fruit Packing Shed and the Rose Garden, which is still maintained to this day by volunteers from the Rose Society of Glendale. Viewers learn the history of irrigation and the first farm crops at the ranch, and see the orchards that are still bearing fruit picked annually for local food banks. Sahuaro Ranch Park is open for group and self-guided tours and also hosts weddings, receptions, arts and entertainment events as well as the Glendale Folk and Heritage Festival.
