The two-player strategy game Salta was invented by chess champion and composer Conrad Büttenbach in 1899. It enjoyed a brief popularity in the early 20th century, played by some high-level celebrities at the time. Salta is a game of "transference" - like Halma, Five-Field Kono, or Chinese Checkers, the objective is to get one's pieces from their start positions to the same positions on the other side of the 100-square board. It is a serious challenge due to the configuration of the pieces (stars, moons, and suns) and the restrictions on movement. A definite recommendation if you can find a set somewhere! It would be fairly easy to make a set (I made my own, shown in this video), and detailed rules are available on the web. As always, thanks for watching!
