Brief history of the anthem of the WFTU: The WFTU Secretariat on 10/10/2010 announced an open public competition to write poems for the WFTU. 32 poems from 23 countries were sent to take part to the competition. The Secretariat then appointed a four-member jury composed by Lorena Jaime Bueno from Spain, Osiris Oviedo from Cuba, Lulamile Sotaka from South Africa and CH Venkatachalam from India, who finally selected the song "LA FSM". Several attempts followed to set the music of the anthem in Asia, Latin America, USA and elsewhere. After many attempts, the music that was selected was the one written by the Greek composer and music teacher Nikos Mosxos. To date the hymn has been sung in English by the Cypriot singer Savvas Xrysostomou and in Spanish by the Spanish singer Juan Jose Anaya Fuertes and in Greek by the Greek singer Theodoros Karelas. The translations of the song into various languages were made by Kali Patouna, Maria Barouti and Vassiliki Moukanou.
