This is the final video on controlling Lego PF (Power Function) devices such as motors and LEDs. This time I am using Lego IR PF protocol will is now opened sourced. Unfortunately the PF devices are no longer supported by Lego and this series is now obsolete. I explore this in the video and I use extensions to Microsoft’s Makecode to demonstrate how to use it. For the hardware I am using a microbit computer, Seeed Studio’s BitMaker and a Grove IR Emitter. The only issue I had with this was that one version of the Lego IR Receiver did not work with the Makecode extensions so be careful if you want to duplicate this project. Plenty of potential to implement this in either Lego Technic models such as the Lego Technic 42030, Remote-Controlled VOLVO L350F Wheel Loader which includes 4 motors and 2 Lego IR Receivers. It will be also useful when working with Lego trains. This will be offered as an optional projects for the Parramatta Library STEM Club's Mechatronics workshop and STEM Club session for Term 3 in 2023.
