Bell Frame Movement at Great Malvern Priory

This Video is meant to give some impression of the amount of frame movement currently affecting the bells at Great Malvern Priory. The second view (from 00.22) shows the point where one of the secondary foundation beams rests on the cill of the openings in the tower and the third view shows where another secondary beam passes into the wall inside the bell chamber. You can clearly see the beams sliding to and fro in both views. The movement has been measured as usually around 5 mm and occasionally reaching 8 mm. As many ringers will know, 1 mm of movement in a bell frame is enough to make the bells challenging to ring.
