In this we are going to learn extract the bulk text from a PDF using Uipath and Extract specific elements inside PDF document. The very fist step is to install the Uipath PDF package : Uipath.pdf.actvities. Post installing this activity you will gain access to all Uipath PDF activities. When you will search for PDF in uipath activity panel - you will find multiple uipath pdf activities. In this example we will learn two of them which are: Read PDF Text Read PDF with OCR Read PDF Text helps in extracting PDF text content to a uipath text variable. However, Read PDF text does not have the ability to extract PDF text from an embedded image in PDF. To extract text from an image in PDF we will be using the activity named Read PDF with OCR. Read PDF with OCR does not work alone, it requires an OCR engine. Type OCR in the Uipath Activity panel and you will find multiple OCR engines available in the panel. You will learn how to use OCR engines with Read PDF with OCR in uipath. The Read PDF Text and Read PDF Text with OCR can work in the background. The PDF is not necessarily to be kept open. The main part is to enable couple of settings in Adobe Acrobat DC to enable PDF automation is shown in this video. (Settings in Acrobat DC for UiPath) We are also going to see the third method, which is Screen Scrapping in Uipath. Screen scraping has 3 options. Screen scraping using native method, screen scraping using full text and OCR. Usage of OCR is generally a hit and trial method which is demonstrated in this video.
