Today's video is of LMS Stanier Black Five Class 4-6-0 45407 The Lancashire Fusilier making a rare appearance in the North East hauling RYTC's The Edinburgh Christmas Market tour from York to Edinburgh Waverley up the ECML via Darlington, Durham, Newcastle and Berwick upon Tweed! This last 10 days or so has seen the UK go through quite a cold snap and although today marked the end of it, the morning shot was filmed during a fair flurry of snow! This morning I simply went to Newcastle Central to film the outward leg of the tour during its passenger pick up. 45407 coasted into Platform 2 under the grand canopies of the station, with a hefty bit of snow having accumulated on the front of the locomotive! 45407 was doing well, arriving in two minutes early and leaving spot on time, all the while the normal service trains were heavily disrupted due to the weather! With the signallers having given her the road, she departed in style, heading out past the Castle and towards Scotland. With it being so cold, the trains being so badly delayed and me having other commitments today, I left it at that for the morning run. In the evening, most of the snow having disappeared as the day has warmed up considerably, I took the Go NorthEast 21 bus service to Chester Le Street to witness 45407 pass through the night at some speed! Great to be with @a.r.productions and his mate whilst filming this shot! With that I headed home. Thanks as always to everyone who made today possible, including RYTC, WCR, NR and the people I spoke to! Thanks particularly to 45407 and her crew for braving the weather today. I hope you enjoy this as I did.
