The scientific name for Jamaican Cherries is Muntingia Calabura. In Jamaica, the common name is cherry, but in other parts of the world, they are called many different names e.g. Singapore Cherry, Ceri, Ceri Kampung & Strawberry Tree, among others. Jamaican cherries aren't true cherries, but they were given that name because of their appearance & similarity. Jamaican cherries taste slightly sweet with a tart taste. The tree flowers & fruits all year round, but necessarily at the same time in all parts of the island. ►Nutritional Facts Jamaican cherries are an excellent source of vitamin C. Pineapples also contain bromelain, which can help to lower inflammation. ►How to make Jamaican Cherry Pineapple Juice Serving Size : 2 Ingredients 16 cherries 1.5 lb pineapple 2 cups water Cane sugar to taste (optional) Method 1. Wash cherries & pineapple properly 2. Remove the crown & base of the pineapple. 3. Peel the pineapple, but take care not to remove too much of the flesh. 4. Remove the "eyes" of the pineapple (optional). 5. Cut pineapple into half. 6. Cut each half into half. 7. Cut pineapple into slices. 8. Place all ingredients into a blender. 9. Blend until smooth. 10. Strain mixture into a container. 11. Use a spoon to stir mixture while straining. 12. Sweeten with sugar. 13. Stir well 14. Pour into a glass over ice NB 1. If pineapple is sweet, it's not necessary to use a sweetener. 2. It's best that diabetics don't use any sweetener. ►How to make a Jamaican Cherry Pineapple Popsicle Serving size: 1 Ingredients 7 oz cherry pineapple juice Equipment 1 seven oz cup 1 popsicle stick 1. Use left over Jamaican cherry pineapple juice & pour into the cup. 2. Place popsicle stick into the center of the cup. 3. Place the cup into the freezer. 4. Leave the cup into the freezer until mixture become frozen. NB If popsicle stick doesn't stay up in the cup 1. Pour juice into the cup. 2. Place the cup into freezer & semi freeze. 3. Place popsicle stick into the center of the cup. 4. Leave cup into the freezer until mixture is fully frozen. ►How to remove Popsicle 1. Turn cup on its side & place under running water for a few seconds. 2. Gently pull on the popsicle stick to remove popsicle.
