In today's video I'll be working on a few Melles Griot 85-BBB-020-703 Lasers. These lasers are used as a replacement for many applications due to their size and performance characteristics. These lasers are Diode Pumped Solid State (DPSS) and emits 488nm laser light at around 60mw when functional. inside of the laser is a 14 pin pump laser diode that produced 976nm, this is fed through a fiber optic strand and gets converted into 488nm though the process of second harmonic generation. Unlike many DPSS lasers that have a full resonator these use a Periodically Poled (PP) crystal which could be Lithium Niobate (PPLN) For more information check out the link below.
