This is a rare compilation recording produced with the Australian father and son tenors DONALD SMITH and ROBIN DONALD singing the Neapolitan air CATARI (Core N'Grato). Both recording were not professionally recorded, but they nevertheless show the great similarities between the father and son tenor voices. Donald and Robin have the notable distinction, that they were the only two Australian father and son operatic tenors ever to have performed opera and concerts throughout Australia together in the Twentieth Century. Performing with the Australian Opera Company (Opera Australia) at the Sydney Opera House, their 'debut' was with the occasion of the double bill "Pagliacci" and "Cavalleria Rusticana", with Donald singing 'Canio' and Robin singing 'Turiddu'. (Donald had previously performed both roles together on the same evening). Other operas in which they also performed together, were '"Der Fliegende Holländer", (with Robin alternating the role of 'Eric' with Donald and also singing 'The Steersman") and "La Fanciulla Del West' (Girl of the Golden West) with Donald singing the role of 'Dick Johnson'. Their series of "Smith & Son" concerts commenced with a concert at the Sydney Opera House and then to the major capital cities of Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide.
