It’s called clip credit and it has to deal with a third nail. Most homes built 2002 or later already have that credit built in based on guidelines for Florida building code. So homes prior to 2002 may be missing that important credit and you can actually hire a roofing contractor to go in and install that third nail and it will save you quite a bit on your homeowner’s insurance and it’s based on square footage for the cost of having that third nail put in. But honestly, you’re going to recoup that in two to three years on your homeowner’s insurance. So it’s well worth the investment. If you want to know how much it would save you, you can call your agent and they can do a quick quote just to kind of let you know how it’s going to impact the premium.
