In this video I'm soldering and repairing the RTL8811CU 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz WiFi stick that I've been using for years. Unfortunately, it became a bit unstable and kept losing the connection. After that, I couldn't establish a connection anymore. It either couldn't find any WiFi networks at all or I got the error message: No connection to the network possible. I then replaced a 10 uF MLCC capacitor on the stick and put a 10 uF capacitor in parallel on the second capacitor. Since then, the stick seems to be running stable again; I'll test whether it stays stable. I strongly suspect that the cause of the unstable WiFi connections lies in the chip's power supply. The chip gets some ripple current from the switching regulator and then crashes.
