Farmers' Protest: How Khattar Govt In Haryana Is Facing Anger and Resentment In Its Own Backyard

Started two months ago, The farmers' protest has entered 47th day. With every passing day, the resolve of farmers has become more and more strong. So far there have been eight rounds of talks between the protesting farmers and the Govt ministers. All of them remained largely inconclusive. While the govt agreed to farmers 2 demands regarding stubble burning and use of electricity, the two major demands which include law for MSP and complete repeal of the law have not been accepted by the Govt. Govt is adamant that it will only have a clause by clause discussion and will only agree to the amendments, there won't be a repeal of three farm laws. So while the deadlock between the protesting farmers and govt continues, the protest goes on and as we are all seeing, protesters are not reeling back. In fact, it seems that the protests are only spreading and getting intense. Braving the bone-chilling cold and the unseasonal rains, protesting farmers are camped on the Singhu and Tikri border. The farmers' protest has been a defining moment in India's politics in recent times. A protest that is peaceful, has not yet recorded a single act of violence from the protesters' side. In fact, if we just go back a little, we can all recall how the police used brute force to stop farmers from reaching Delhi. When the farmers started marching towards national capital from Punjab and Haryana, they faced, water cannons, lathicharge, roadblocks and police barricades on the Haryana border. The Khattar govt had used tremendous pressure to ensure the farmers do not march further, but their efforts went to waste. on the contrary, farmers were able to go past the barricades and every hurdle and reached the national capital. But using of brute force on Protestors is turning out to be a big blunder of the Khattar govt in Haryana.
