In a presented organized by Kurdistan TESOL, Dr. Linh Phung addressed the complexities of achieving advanced language proficiency, indicating that it typically requires extensive study hours influenced by various factors, including the learner's first language and motivation. This highlighted the necessity of sustained effort in language acquisition and the importance of input, output, interaction, motivation, and engagement in the learning process. Dr. Linh advocated for a text-driven approach in language teaching, emphasizing the selection of engaging texts to provide comprehensible and meaningful input and opportunities for output production around the text. She also introduced task-based language teaching (TBLT) as an approach to promote meaningful communication, outlining essential criteria for effective tasks, and sharing different tasks like jigsaw reading and viewing, spot the differences, picture sequencing, and decision making to develop all language skills and develop learners' language proficiency and communicative competence.
