DEFINITION: This is a slight dilatation that lies at the junction of the termination of common carotid artery and beginning of internal carotid artery INNERVATION: Vagus nerve, Glossopharyngeal nerve & Sympathetic trunk FUNCTION: Carotid sinus serves as baroreceptor and regulate blood pressure. Carotid sinus syndrome The sinus is highly innervated by vagus, glossopharyngeal and sympathetic nerves. In some persons, the sinus may be hypersensitive In such persons, sudden rotation of the head may cause slowing of the heart. This condition is called carotid sinus syndrome. #Carotidsinus #Carotidsinussyndrome
