'The Horror' | What if Horror was haunting you? | Short Film by George Kugelmann

Synopsis: When a young girl insults the genre, she is met with a great horror at her front door, facing a series of scares reflective of horror's history as she is chased around her home. Overview: 'The Horror' reflects the technical and thematic evolution of Horror movies from 1920s German expressionist silent pictures to the eerie psychological thrillers we see now in the 21st century. Through its visuals, score, editing and themes, the horror takes the viewer on a journey through the beloved genre of horror that has voiced the fears of society since its origin. The film is littered with references to pay homage to other horror movies and represent how horror has changed with its audience through time. Us: The film was made with no film school, no prior experience in creating video content, and it was a fun learning experience for me to enhance my filmmaking skills and try out all the roles necessary on a film set. I filmed on my iPhone 14 Pro Max and a Canon EOS 7D (I think) and used Davinci Resolve to edit the film, alongside using my keyboard on my laptop to produce the music on GarageBand. A huge thank you to my two brilliant friends and actors, Charlotte Tandy and Samuel Knightsmith, without whom this film would have never been possible, as they devoted so much time and effort into helping create my vision.
