This year, the Holy Week leading up to Easter coincides precisely with the week of Passover. Today, Sunday, the first day of Passover, Palm Sunday took place in Jerusalem, featuring the traditional procession from Bethphage on the Mount of Olives to the Old City. This procession reenacts Jesus' entry into Jerusalem, where he was welcomed with palm branches, giving rise to the custom of carrying palm fronds (as well as olive branches) during the procession. It's one of the most remarkable Christian pilgrimage events. This year, despite challenging times and rainy weather, thousands participated in a particularly vibrant celebration.
