Lengthening sleeves with a stretch band made from reclaimed knit fabric. I am adding 3 inches to these sleeves. Materials used: JACKET: 100% Polyester windbreaker NEW CUFFS: ribbed knit cut from the back of the matching tank top that is not wearable anymore. Fabric was cut double total length needed plus 1.5" for seam allowances and elastic ease. In my case, it was 4.5" wide and about 8.5" long. ELASTIC: 9 INCHES OF 1.5" Wide KNITTED elastic. ( You may use whatever you have on hand, but you may need to create several channels for your elastic. Example: I could have used 2 pieces of 3/4" wide elastic, but I would need to sew 2 channels. That is done by dividing the cuff with a row of stitching and inserting 2 separate lengths. Ir, more rows if your needs require. THREAD: Use a good quality All Purpose thread. MACHINE NEEDLES: Use Ball Point Size 11 to 14 needle. A fresh needle will prevent thread breakage during your stitching. ARE YOU IN NEED OF EXPERT SEWING ADVICE?
