William asks: Dr. Geier, thanks for your informative video series. I had ACL surgery with a hamstring graft about 15 years ago. Over the course of the last 5 years, my knee has been giving out a bit, every 6 months or so playing squash when bending down and rotating. If the knee is giving out, is that a sign that the graft is possibly tearing, becoming more damaged, etc.? Buckling or giving way of the knee can be a sign of an ACL injury. But it isn’t the only cause of your knee feeling like it’s buckling. In this video, I discuss quad weakness, why you can have it, and how you can tell if it is the cause of your knee buckling.
