*This Railroad has been dismantled, and the equipment sold and relocated to Texas* The Michigan AuSable Valley Railroad is a 15" gauge railroad located in the Northeastern part of Northern Lower Michigan, about 5 minutes outside of the small community of Fairview. A family run operation since it began in 1994, the railroad is a huge hit with locals and tourists as it takes you on a scenic 15 minute ride over a mile and a half of track. The layout is cleverly designed, with several focal points such as a diamond, tunnel, two large trestles and accurately styled structures along the railroad. While the normal power for the railroad consists of a pair of custom-built 15" gauge cab locomotives styled after EMD F7's, but since it was the Fourth of July weekend the pride and joy of the railroad came out to play, the railroad's 14,000 pound 4-6-4 Hudson, built between 1956 and 1961 (Hence the number 5661). Watch as we catch the oil burning 4-6-4 take a couple groups of passengers around the layout through the scenic Northern Michigan landscape.
