Filmed on 12/26/2022, This was my first time visiting Battle Creek with a friend of mine to do some railfanning. (I also got a handful of elevators as well). This trip was part of an original 3 day trip to Battle Creek and Kalamazoo as we decided to travel by Amtrak. We arrived in Battle Creek around 12 PM on Amtrak Blue Water 365 (we boarded in Lapeer). The plan was to spend the first night at this hotel, sadly the next day our train to Kalamazoo was cancelled due to the inclement cold weather which resulted in our trip cutting short to 2 days as we returned home on the 2nd day. Now for the hotel: The hotel itself is a very nice property, I ended up booking a room here for 1 night. A website told me I needed to be at least 18 years old to book a room, however upon check in, the front desk staff told me it was actually age 21 and up. (and I was 19 at the time). This hotel has a minimum age check in of 21 years as they have a bar in the lobby, however the front desk staff checked us in anyways because the bar was closed (due to extended Covid-19 conditions). We ended up getting a nice room on the 5th floor and everything was in awesome shape except the window which had a big crack in it as I discovered while doing the room tour. Thankfully I quickly informed the front desk manager after finishing the video to inform him the crack was there before we checked in. Overall this is a really nice hotel, and the fact that we still got to check in stay here (despite the age requirement) was such a blessing considering we didn't have a vehicle as my friend and I came in by train. This was a great hotel.
