Discovering the Beauty of Higher Dimensions Through 3D Printing We live in a three dimensional world, but it is actually possible to have many more then three dimensions. Through the power of computers and 3D printing, we can immerse shapes from higher dimensions into our world and experience their breath-taking beauty. Currently a lecturer in the Mathematics Department at Stony Brook University, Valente is passionate about math, science, technology, and the natural world. He believes there is deep beauty to be found in the vast ocean of mathematics, and it brings him great joy to share this beauty with others. Valente earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Stony Brook in 2011, with a minor in Computer Science. After graduation, he taught math at Mathnasium, a mathematics learning center while also developing Polytopia, a program that allows basic visualization, manipulation, and 3D printing of higher dimensional shapes. In 2015, Valente earned a Master of Arts degree in Mathematics from Stony Brook. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
