We started building out an old barn and searching for pack animals back in fall. Pack horses can get you places in the backcountry that otherwise you couldn't; hauling meat and gear back to the homestead. Our harness trained haflinger boys can haul timber, plow a field, or pack meat too. Choosing horse power over engines for hunting, travel, hauling gear and timber is something we've thought of for over a decade and we finally started getting a string together! When a seasoned packer was retiring he put up 3 horses for sale and we bought one, Wyatt. His last horse, Ike, we decided to take home too- he wanted them to go together and thought we would be a good home. But we had to make a hard decision on one of our other horses when taking him home! We also got our hands on the part needed to get the truck up and running- a casualty of the extreme negative temps we have been having in the Alaskan interior. Dennis got to work fixing the old diesel truck too! 'Til next week, -Dennis, Amy & Lena End Music By: @HawkenHorse, who wrote us "Holdfast". Frontier music and history.
